I read the roots don’t grow beyond the base of the trunk. is this true?

   I seriously doubt it is true but actually I do not know.
   i think palms lean towards their water source; like u ever see how on beaches they all lean towards the ocean? and i have seen them do it on lawns too; lean towards the sprinkler. so if they DID have roots, it might be they would gravitate to the water source too.
